Sources & methodology

All data on Study in Europe is drawn from publicly available official sources. This page documents our standard source bodies, methodology, and update cadence.

Primary sources by country

Germany: DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), German Federal Foreign Office, uni-assist, APS (Akademische Prüfstelle), university tuition schedules published on institutional websites.

Netherlands: Nuffic, IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service), Studielink, university tuition schedules.

Ireland: Department of Justice, Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service, Higher Education Authority, individual university websites.

France: Campus France, French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Études en France platform, individual university and grande école websites.

Sweden: Swedish Institute (SI), Swedish Migration Agency, universityadmissions.se, individual university websites.

Finland: Finnish Immigration Service (Migri), Studyinfo.fi, individual university websites.

Pan-European: European Commission (Study in Europe portal), Erasmus Mundus catalogue, Eurostat, national consulate websites for Schengen visa processing times.

Methodology

Tuition figures are taken from the most recent published fee schedules on university websites for the current or upcoming academic year. Living cost estimates are drawn from official government student visa financial requirements (blocked account amounts, Nuffic recommendations, etc.) as these represent the minimum amount that a government has determined a student needs.

Visa processing time estimates are sourced from the published processing standards of the relevant national immigration authority. Actual processing times vary by consulate, application volume, and individual circumstances.

English-taught programme counts are drawn from national agency databases (DAAD, Nuffic, Campus France, etc.) and reflect programmes listed as of our access date. Programme counts include full degree programmes only, not individual modules or courses.

Update cadence

We review and update all data points quarterly. Major changes (e.g., a country announcing new tuition policies or visa rules) are updated within two weeks of official publication.

Access date

Unless otherwise noted on a specific page, all current data was accessed on 2026-06-14. Always confirm with the original source before making decisions.
